ILP- Participation "Lynda.com Tutorial"


For my Participation Independent Learning Project, I decided to choose a Lynda.com Tutorial. My course was about Teacher Techniques on Classroom Management. In my Voice Thread I talk about the main points, I learned in the course and how to manage a classroom successfully in an active learning style. Below I have attached the voice thread

    I really enjoyed your voicethread as it was very informative. I never used or explored Lynda.com before your voice thread. After watching and listening to your voicethread, I learned how much of resource Lynda.com is. I now know that I can learn a lot from Lynda.com, as i learned much from you.

ISTE Computational Thinker Resource

The standard that I chose helps children develop their problem solving skills with using technology methods; so I decided to find a website that had many different math games because this deals with algorithmic thinking. When I was in elementary and middle school I loved when we would go to the computer lab and get to choose what games we play because it gave me freedom to have fun while learning. I feel like finding a website that has a lot to choose from makes this process of Computational Thinking fun for the kids who don't like problem- solving or Math in general. Also this website offers Preschool to 5th grade, so as the students advances the games do as well! A few skills I learned from working with Diigo was the formatting, editing, and sharing of certain websites on Diigo. I personally would not use this resource in my classroom because I find the commenting and organizing too confusing for teachers and students to communicate and share information. If I would use this resource in my classroom I would have it to show my class the important quotes and sections of articles by using the highlight feature on Diigo. Also using Diigo in my individual professional efforts, I could use this resource while finding quotes from my sources for papers that I write for my college classes.  The first level of Bloom's Taxonomy is to remember; which is to recall facts and basic concepts. So I could use PowerPoint and make a vocabulary lesson; then have a review lesson at the end and have the students calling out the words with fill in the blank.
