Blog Journal #9

A flipped classroom is when the information and material are offered online and out of class to the students, so when the teacher is available there are more activities to review and share their questions about the material. There are many issues about this instructional design because it limits the children who do not have technology at home and also struggle learning material on their own. Also, the teacher may move ahead in their lesson plan and a student may have not been able to look over the previous information because they do not have access to technology at home.

Open Educational resources are any materials for teaching or learning that are available for no cost at all. These resources are very helpful for teachers because they are able to find new lesson plans and ways to use technology in the classroom. Also, anyone is able to access these resources for educational purposes. I found an article online that explains what OER materials are, how it is used, and what the good and bad are with having these materials be available for everyone. One negative effect of having Open Educational resources is anyone is allowed to publish and say it is a resource even if the material is not at good quality.

Here is the link to the article.
With the two PowerPoint assignments that I have done, I have learned what action buttons are and how to disable linear advancing of slides. Before this class I never knew how teachers created Jeopardy in class, I thought it was some other resource, but not PowerPoint! My favorite part of my assignments was the theme I choose it fitted both of my assignments very well because my first one was a transportation lesson and then my second was a choose your own adventure with a boat day! I enjoyed creating my assignments in PowerPoint, but I could have improved in creating more animations.  Here below are my two assignments!

ISTE Computational Thinker Resource

The standard that I chose helps children develop their problem solving skills with using technology methods; so I decided to find a website that had many different math games because this deals with algorithmic thinking. When I was in elementary and middle school I loved when we would go to the computer lab and get to choose what games we play because it gave me freedom to have fun while learning. I feel like finding a website that has a lot to choose from makes this process of Computational Thinking fun for the kids who don't like problem- solving or Math in general. Also this website offers Preschool to 5th grade, so as the students advances the games do as well! I have attached the link below to the website I found that has many different games that your students can play! Math Games
